April Fool’s Day: presenting real products and telling you they’re fake

On April 1st I saw some pretty outlandish products presented for April Fools day. However, there was one that was so successful that the joke was over, this product was recycled copy of something else.

This lead me to think further: Is April Fools day the opportunity to present those crazy product ideas to see if it sticks? What if the culture in some companies were to bring you best ideas year round for a potential product and they pick 1 a year that had real world application but no potential? Presenting crazy April Fools day products!

One example: In 2014 Google Presented bringing Pokemon to real life, Google's April Fools' prank puts Pokemon in the real world https://www.cnet.com/news/googles-april-fools-prank-puts-pokemon-in-the-real-world/ . Little did we know that in 2016 this would come true. I believe Google received positive feedback and then began to see how possible this could be, though it is April Fools anyways so there was no realistic pressure to make this successful. With the help Niantic, this was an April Fools come true.
